Introducing Halle Elizabeth Buchanan

lil' baby, one month early!

We have a new little squeak in our house! Halle Elizabeth Buchanan was born at 4:59 am Sat, Jun 13th in the back of an ambulance at the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon! She is doing wonderful for coming into the world the hard way! And it’s a greay story too…

Charla went up to the Burrow (the Evans cabin near Indianola, UT) with Nana grandpa and the cousins on Friday, but I stayed home because of church stuff Saturday morning. Charla’s due date was not until July 17th, so we thought we were safe… At 3am Charla started having labor. She waited until 4am before waking Nana and grandpa. While coming down the canyon, her water broke, they called 911 and stopped just out of the canyon by the huge windmills. They waited 10 mins for the ambulance, and she was born just after they loaded Charla into the back, before they could drive away. Halle had to do it the hard way too, she came out bum first! For being one month early, she sure was in a hurry! Many thanks to the paramedic that pulled real hard to get her out.

Charla had called me at 4:15am and I sped south to try to meet them. I was still 5 – 10 mins away when Halle was born. I got to the hospital soon after they did. They took her to Mountain View Hospital in Payson. The doctors were amazed with how well she was for being a month early. They still kept us at the hospital for 4 days just to be cautious, but Halle really is 100% perfect!

She was 4 lb 15 oz. and 17 inches. Here are some pics.

Ahhhh...the smell of poop!

Piper, my two year old, has decided that she knows best when the diaper comes off. Oh no! I am too lazy to duct tape the diapers on her yet, and definitely not up to potty training her, so I guess it's my own fault :).

Lily (6) is our official chicken egg gatherer and Havala (5 1/2 months) nurturer, both of which are sometimes scary. However, most of the time the eggs come in unbroken and Havala still seems to love her passionately loving older sister.

Hyrum decided that all the boys in the children's book Quinn was reading to him are boys "because I can see their ears...there's a boy...there's a boy..."etc. The girls all had hair over their ears. Strange, the connections we make!

Drew (7) is the Konnex (sp?) king and has designed all sorts of fun mechanical structures. Sending him to his room is not a punishment! He also won three games of "lightning", "tornado", or "speed" (whichever you choose to call it) the other night against his dad, Tova, Kel, and some friends...go Goob!

Tova (12) loves to snuggle with Hava and a book, play her violin, and participate in her clubs with her friends. She especially enjoyed the triple chocolate fudge brownies her grandpa and grandma gave her for her birthday! Yummm!

Kel (10) is all about friends, friends, and more friends. Every once in a while he will decide it is alright to be with us (we're flattered ;).) but he is soon off to calculate how much friend-time he has coming. He also is great at calculating money. If I set up all his math problems to include money, it would be a cinch!

I am getting my garden in (woohoo!) and trying to learn from all my mistakes last year. I am also reading all sorts of great books when I have time, and am helping put on a kid's "Midsummer Night's Dream" play in April. I also love visitors (we're less than 5 minutes off the freeway I-15--unless you get lost :).)

Quinn is busy in Young Men's, appraising houses (particularly for refinancing right now), and playing basketball in the morning. He is enjoying training our filly when he has time and keeps busy keeping the house and yard in repair--seven kids are not easy on a house!

Havala is getting fatter and fatter...butterball baby! We love her darling smiles and her giggles. She shows absolutely no interest in rolling over or sitting up on her own, but is very intent whenever we get the food out...which would account for her figure!

Much love to all of you!

New familylinks on website

I added a number of pages on the www.workmanfamily.org website recently. If you go to the Photos page, you will see a small pedigree chart link for John Workman and one for Lydia Bilyeu. Each of them will take you through a series of charts showing ancestors going back quite a ways.

I have also updated the Heber Fielding Burton website some, though I really haven't done much there. It is http://hfburton.buchananspot.com/ . There are several ways to get there, but if you go to the Photographs link (below Mary Delecta's picture) and on that page click on the first line (Family chart of Heber Fielding Burton), then you can start to go through those pages. I hope to add a lot more to this site eventually.

Burton Family website

I wrote about the Workman site a few minutes ago. There is a committee of people who help on that site from the extended Workman family. However, there is another site that I started up a few years ago for the Burton family at the time of the reunion. I really haven't done much on that site since I started it. I would also like to have help getting some materials (photos and histories) for the Burton site as well.

That site is http://hfburton.buchananspot.com

The Workman Family website

Just to let you all know that the Workman Family web site is still there and is being updated. I am the webmaster for it and get submissions occasionally from people. There are a number of new pages showing families. If you go to the "recent updates" link (upper left area of the main page) you can see what has been added over time.

I started putting up some for the Cornelius Workman family, but need some more pictures and histories to expand it. If any of you have some old pictures of the Workman family, please send me some copies so I can put it on the site.

The address is: http://www.workmanfamily.org/

Snowed in

Hello to everyone out there. The title indicates we have lots of snow. Coeur d Alene has recorded a record snowfall of 124 inches. We escaped for 10 days in Arizona where the natives were wearing sweaters and jackets and complaining about how cold it was. We spent the whole time in short sleeved shirts and basking in the sun. The best part of the trip was spent in Sedona, Arizona. If you have not been there to see the red rocks take the opportunity to go. We are busy in the church. Carole' is the Saturday Women's coordinator at the temple in Spokane. At the small temples you do all of the ordinance so she coordinates all of the work to move people around on the busiest day of the week in the temple. I go along and perform ordinances and we both love the work. Carole' teaches the Luarels on Sunday and a I serve as the executive secretary to help our bishop in a vary challenging ward. God bless all out there. We send our love. Tom and Carole'
