Introducing Halle Elizabeth Buchanan
Submitted by David Buchanan on Wed, 06/17/2009 - 17:23.
We have a new little squeak in our house! Halle Elizabeth Buchanan was born at 4:59 am Sat, Jun 13th in the back of an ambulance at the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon! She is doing wonderful for coming into the world the hard way! And it’s a greay story too…
Ahhhh...the smell of poop!
Submitted by Mary Biesinger on Mon, 03/23/2009 - 02:02.
Piper, my two year old, has decided that she knows best when the diaper comes off. Oh no! I am too lazy to duct tape the diapers on her yet, and definitely not up to potty training her, so I guess it's my own fault :).
Lily (6) is our official chicken egg gatherer and Havala (5 1/2 months) nurturer, both of which are sometimes scary. However, most of the time the eggs come in unbroken and Havala still seems to love her passionately loving older sister.
Hyrum decided that all the boys in the children's book Quinn was reading to him are boys "because I can see their ears...there's a boy...there's a boy..."etc. The girls all had hair over their ears. Strange, the connections we make!
Drew (7) is the Konnex (sp?) king and has designed all sorts of fun mechanical structures. Sending him to his room is not a punishment! He also won three games of "lightning", "tornado", or "speed" (whichever you choose to call it) the other night against his dad, Tova, Kel, and some friends...go Goob!
New familylinks on website
Submitted by Joseph Buchanan on Tue, 02/03/2009 - 20:42.
I added a number of pages on the www.workmanfamily.org website recently. If you go to the Photos page, you will see a small pedigree chart link for John Workman and one for Lydia Bilyeu. Each of them will take you through a series of charts showing ancestors going back quite a ways.
I have also updated the Heber Fielding Burton website some, though I really haven't done much there. It is http://hfburton.buchananspot.com/ . There are several ways to get there, but if you go to the Photographs link (below Mary Delecta's picture) and on that page click on the first line (Family chart of Heber Fielding Burton), then you can start to go through those pages. I hope to add a lot more to this site eventually.

Burton Family website
Submitted by Joseph Buchanan on Fri, 05/23/2008 - 20:16.
I wrote about the Workman site a few minutes ago. There is a committee of people who help on that site from the extended Workman family. However, there is another site that I started up a few years ago for the Burton family at the time of the reunion. I really haven't done much on that site since I started it. I would also like to have help getting some materials (photos and histories) for the Burton site as well.
That site is http://hfburton.buchananspot.com
The Workman Family website
Submitted by Joseph Buchanan on Fri, 05/23/2008 - 20:09.
Just to let you all know that the Workman Family web site is still there and is being updated. I am the webmaster for it and get submissions occasionally from people. There are a number of new pages showing families. If you go to the "recent updates" link (upper left area of the main page) you can see what has been added over time.
I started putting up some for the Cornelius Workman family, but need some more pictures and histories to expand it. If any of you have some old pictures of the Workman family, please send me some copies so I can put it on the site.
The address is: http://www.workmanfamily.org/
Aloha!

Gavin aka -- Mr. Mischief
Submitted by Charla Buchanan on Sat, 02/09/2008 - 23:21.
We try really hard to stick to the rule at our house that all markers and pen are to be kept out of reach of our two year old. We apparently missed this one. The good news is that it is washable marker. The bad news is, that on upholstery, washable marker might as well be permenent marker. After I found, and photoed our minor disaster, I emailed the picture to Dave with the title "I'm thinking I'd like new furniture for the front room." I guess he had pretty good laugh, because he forwarded to most everyone he knows.

Grateful for family
Submitted by Mary Biesinger on Sun, 02/03/2008 - 00:00.
As my little Piper drapes herself across my lap with me lightly tracing her darling tummy , I am reminded of another little boy who loved to do the same thing. I am so grateful for family! And not just my immediate one. As I just finished reading a poem about sisters, it made me grateful for all the sisters that have been given me, through my mother, my daughters, my brothers' wives, and sweet aunts and cousins. We truly learn so much from each other,...we need each other!
Eight Generations in the Church
Submitted by Joseph Buchanan on Mon, 01/28/2008 - 21:24.
This is a composite I made showing 8 generations of women in the church. They are:
(left to right above the portrait) Mary Ann Syer, Elizabeth White, Mary Ann Stewart, Mary Delecta Ballantyne, Mary Ellen Burton, (in the portrait) Shauna Delecta Workman, Mary Arvilla Buchanan, Tova Sariah Biesinger. Mary Ann Syer and Elizabeth White were in the Hunt Wagon Company that came across the plains just behind the Martin Handcart company in the tragic crossing of late 1856. They were coming from England.

Visit to Kaysville, 21 Jan. 2008
Submitted by Joseph Buchanan on Tue, 01/22/2008 - 17:52.
We (Shauna and I, with Mark and Adam) braved the snowy roads going north and visited Mary's family at their home in Kaysville. The rest of the family stayed and visited while I went to find a couple of distant cousins. I first visited with Shirley Baxter who lived in the east part of Layton. She is my 4th cousin. Her great-great-grandmother, Jane Parrish Lindsay is a sister to my great-great-grandmother Priscilla Parrish Roundy. She has a lot of information concerning the Parrish and Dack families and ancestors. There is a book, published in the 1940's about the family.
Greetings from Sugarhouse. :)
I'm currently working for Impatient Cow, just starting my third year there, where I make commercials for TV and other sundry video editing projects. Justin is working at the Moran Eye Center and just got a promotion to be an OMA (Opthalmic Medical Assistant). Yay!
We have two dogs (Golly and Tiko) and two cats (Chloe "Fat Cat" and Tess).
We live in Lehi Ut, With our 3 kids 2 turtles and 1 crazy cat.
Dave works at Eli|Kirk an internet design firm. He likes creating creating websites (like this one) caving, hiking, and mostly playing with his kids.
Trip to Red Cliffs
Submitted by David Buchanan on Mon, 01/21/2008 - 17:45.
Over New Years, we spent a few days down in St. George and the surrounding area. We visited Snow Canyon, and Zions National park. This picture was taken along the hike in Red Cliffs national park. We've done this trip many years over new years, but this was the coldest we've ever seen it. Most of the stream was frozen over, so I didn't go swimming in the upper pool this year because it was iced over!
Halloween Maze
Submitted by David Buchanan on Mon, 01/21/2008 - 17:35.

For the last four years we have been making a maze each Halloween. It started as a fun thing for the kids and their cousins, but we kept making it biggest each year. We build it down at the back of our yard which started out as an even slope. We’ve been digging it out each year so each year we made the maze bigger with the progress of our digging, it started out at 4 by 7. Earlier this year we completed the last of the hole and put in the retaining wall, so the maze was 4 by 11 this year.
